How to Make It

Step 1

Preheat the oven to 400°F / 200°C. Place one pie crust into a 9-inch pie dish.

Step 2

In a large bowl, combine sliced apples, brown sugar, granulated sugar, flour, Ceylon cinnamon, nutmeg, lemon juice, and vanilla extract.

Step 3

Mix gently until the apples are evenly coated with the cinnamon sugar mixture.

Step 4

Add the apple filling to the pie crust and dot the top with small pieces of butter.

Step 5

Cover with the second pie crust or create a lattice top. Seal the edges and cut small vents if using a full crust.

Step 6

Brush the top with beaten egg and bake for 40 to 45 minutes, until the crust is golden and the filling is bubbling.

Step 7

Let the pie cool for at least 20 minutes before slicing. Serve warm or at room temperature.

Autumn Comfort Dessert

Warm, Fragrant, and Fresh from the Oven

Apple pie is one of the most comforting ways to enjoy cinnamon in baking. As the pie bakes, the apples soften, the crust turns golden, and the cinnamon fills the kitchen with a cozy autumn aroma.

This recipe is perfect for family dinners, seasonal gatherings, holiday tables, or a quiet dessert moment with tea or coffee.

Why Use Ceylon Cinnamon?

Ceylon cinnamon brings a soft, delicate sweetness and a refined aroma that pairs beautifully with apples. Its smooth character helps the pie feel warm, fragrant, and balanced without overpowering the fruit.

A Classic Autumn Pairing

Apples, cinnamon, butter, sugar, and flaky pastry create a timeless dessert combination. The apples become tender while the cinnamon adds a warm, cozy depth to every slice.

Tips for Better Flavor

  • Use firm apples so the filling stays tender without becoming too soft.
  • Let the pie cool before slicing so the filling can set properly.
  • Brush the crust with egg wash for a golden bakery-style finish.
  • Use premium Ceylon cinnamon for a smoother aroma and more refined apple flavor.

Optional Variations

  • Add a handful of raisins or dried cranberries for extra sweetness.
  • Add chopped walnuts or pecans for texture.
